UFC 214 Results: Robbie Lawler defeats Donald Cerrone

A key welterweight scrap between former division champion Robbie Lawler and perennial contender Donald Cerrone took place during tonight’s UFC 214 main card from Anaheim, California.

Round one begins and Lawler comes out flying he lands a big left followed by a bunch of knees. Big shots from Lawler. He lands a right hand. Cerrone retreats. Lawler steps in and engages Donald in the clinch. Cerrone lands a good knee. Lawler presses Donald against the fence. He lands a some big shots. Uppercuts now from Laweler. Cerrone with a nice elbow. Lawler fires back with some left hands. Both me exchange knees in the clinch. They break and Lawler presses forward. Once again the clinch. Robbie presses Donald against the cage. He lands some shot but Cerrone shakes free. Donald with a high kick. It’s blocked and Lawler lands a huge knee. He goes for a left it is not there. Another kick from Lawler. Cerrone appears to be hurt. He shoots in and scores a takedown. Cerrone eventually moves to half guard. Cerrone moves to side control and then takes north south position. One minute remains. Cerrone works in some knees. Lawler scrambles and gets back to his feet. Cerrone connects with a punch. Lawler fires off a kick to the body. Cerrone goes high and rocks Lawler with a kick. Lawler circles out and the horn sounds to end round one.

Round two begins and Lawler lands a low kick. Cerrone lands a counter left hand. Donald ducks and then throws a head kick. It just misses. Lawler with a left. Donald presses forward and lands a nice combination. Robbie presses forward and lands a high kick. The fighters engage in the clinch and Donald lands an elbow. They break. Cerrone presses forward with punches. He finishes with a head kick that is blocked. Cerrone with another combination. Robbie throws a body kick but Cerrone answers with a better low kick. Donald with a nice combination. He leaps in with a left. He lands a huge knee inside. They break and Cerrone lands a left hand. Robbie shoots in but Donald stuffs it and lands a combination that ends in a head kick. Robbie presses forward like the terminator. Cerrone attempts a head kick but it is blocked. Cerrone with a kick to the mid section. He leaps in with a combination that forces Robbie to retreat. Both men land leg kicks. Cerrone leaps in with a right hand that lands.

Round three begins and Lawler presses forward quickly. He lands a head kick. Robbie with constant pressure now. He lands another high kick. Cerrone responds with a knee. Lawler throws a left. They are going back and forth. Lawler presses forward but Donald shoots in for a takedown. Robbie is not having it. Lawler with an uppercut and then a right hand over the top. Another good left from Lawler. Cerrone shoots in. Lawler stuffs the attempt. Robbie presses forward. He lands an uppercut. Cerrone with a counter left. Robbie with a kick to the body. He lands a big right. Cerrone with a good left. Robbie with a right. This is getting good. Lawler with a shot to the body Cerrone replies with a kick. Still, Lawler presses on. Cerrone with a good combination. Lawler comes forward and eats another shot. Robbie with a big uppercut. He lands a head kick. Lawler is charging forward now. He lands a head kick. The horn sounds to end round three.
