UFC 215 in Edmonton gets two exciting new bouts

By Tom Taylor - July 25, 2017

UFC 215, which goes down September 9 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, has grown by two exciting new bouts, per the Edmonton Sun.

Rafael Dos Anjos

The first of UFC 215’s new bouts will occur at welterweight, where former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos will take on the 6th-ranked Neil Magny.

This bout will be Dos Anjos’ second in the welterweight division. His first occured back in mid-June in Singapore, when he out-duelled former Strikeforce champ Tarec Saffiedine to a unanimous decision win. This victory separated him from back-to-back losses to Tony Ferguson and Eddie Alvarez at lightweight. The former marked the end of his reign as UFC lightweight champion.

Magny, meanwhile, has been on the shelf since December, when he picked up a unanimous decision win over former welterweight champ Johny Hendricks. This win was preceded by a TKO loss to current Bellator star Lorenz Larkin.

The second of these new matchups will occur at lightweight, where Canada’s Mitch Clarke will take on Missouri’s Alex White. This bout will mark Clarke’s opportunity to bounce back from a pair of losses to top-flight foes in Michael Chiesa and Joe Duffy. It’ll also be his first fight in over a year. White, meanwhile, will look to rebound from a decision loss to Tony Martin.

UFC 215 will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Ray Borg. The co-headliner will be a rescheduled women’s bantamweight title fight between champ Amanda Nunes and challenger Valentina Shevchenko. It will also feature a heavyweight scrap between Junior Dos Santos and Francis Ngannou.
