UFC 216 Results: Lando Vannata and Bobby Green battle to a draw (Highlights)

A lightweight scrap between Lando Vannata and Bobby Green took place during tonight’s UFC 216 prelims on FS1.

Round one begins and Green lands a nice left jab to start. Lando catches a Green kick but Bobby avoids any counter strikes. Both men are utilizing a lot of movement early. Lando leaps in with a punch. The fighters clinch. They break and Green lands a left. Lando replies with a right hand. Once again the fighters clinch. Green presses Lando against the cage. Vannata pushes Green off and then connects with a head kick. Green circles but Lando presses him against the fence. Big shots from Lando now. He lands a right hand and then another. Vannata goes down. Lando jumps on him with ground and pound. The referee is letting this go. Green tries to get back to his feet. Lando catches him with a knee but Green was down. The referee immediately jumps in. A point is taken from Lando and we restart. Vannata presses forward and lands a right hand. Green shoots and Vannata locks in a guillotine. This is tight. Lando cranks the hold. Somehow Green survives and is able to pull his head out. Green presses Vannata against the cage. He works hard for a single leg takedown but Lando avoids. Once again they clinch and Lando lands a right hand on the break. A good low kick scores for Vannata. He leaps in with a right. Green responds with a jab. Another good low kick from Lando scores. Green fires back with one of his own. Lando shoots in and scores a takedown late in the round. The horn sounds to end the opening five minutes.

Round two begins and Green lands a nice left hook to get things started. Lando presses forward and lands an overhand right. Both men are firing off kicks now. Green responds with another left hand. Lando leaps in and just misses with a right hook. Bobby with another left. Vannata continues to press forward and lands a low kick. He follows that up with a right hand and then another. Lando with a hard low kick. Green slips a punch and lands jab. Bobby with a left hook now. Lando is beginning to wear these punches. Green pushes Lando against the fence and start workings some solid shots inside. Lando ducks under and lands a takedown. Green quickly pops back up to his feet. He grabs a single leg and goes for a takedown. Lando reverses it and winds up on top. Another reversal and they are back on their feet with Green in control. Lando breaks free and lands a right hand. Green is hurt. This fight is wild. Lando with a hard low kick. He lands another right. Green fires back with a shot to the body and then a left jab. Both men are throwing big shots now. Lando with another hard low kick. He lands a right hand over the top. Green with a jab. The horn sounds to end round two.

Round three begins and Vannata comes forward with punches early. He is walking Green down to kickoff round three. Vanatta with a right. Green circles off the fence. Lando shoots in for a takedown. Green shakes him off. Green with a knee and then a right hand. Lando replies with a right of his own. Vannata’s face is a bloody mess. Green presses him up against the cage. Lando breaks free and circles out. Green with a nice left jab. He pushes Lando back up against the cage. Vannata presses forward. He lands a low kick. Bobby is talking to Lando now. Vannata presses forward. Both men are landing big shots now. Vannata lands a high kick. Green with a right hand. Lando with a combination. This is a war. Another low kick from Lando. Green with a big right over the top. He throws a kick to the body of Vannata. Lando is moving forward now. He shoots in and scores a takedown. Green scrambles and gets back to his feet. The fighters clinch. Green presses Lando against the cage and lands some knees. Bobby with a jab as they break. Lando with a right hand. Green with a left and then a massive combination. The horn sounds to end round three. What a fight!
