UFC 222 Results: Cris Cyborg stops Yana Kunitskaya

A women’s featherweight title fight between current champion Cris Cyborg and UFC newcomer Yana Kunitskaya served as the main event of tonight’s UFC 222 fight card in Las Vegas.

Round one begins and Kunitskaya comes out quickly. Cyborg lands a right hand followed by a body shot. Yana scores a trip takedown. She gets on top of the champion. Cris is trying to get back to her feet but Kunitskaya takes her back and locks in one hook. Cyborg scrambles and is able to get back to her feet. Yana still has her pressed against the cage. Cyborg breaks free and lands a big punch that hurts Yana. Kunitskaya is in trouble. Big shots from Cyborg. Yana is back up but Cris connects with some more punches that send Yana back to the floor. Kunitskaya is not intelligently defending herself. The referee steps in and calls a stop to the action.
