The blockbuster event is headlined by a heavyweight title fight featuring current champion Stipe Miocic taking on reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

“DC” has the opportunity to join a group of fellow octagon legends in Randy Couture, BJ Penn, Conor McGregor and Georges St-Pierre who are currently the only fighters to have ever captured UFC titles in two different weight classes.

Cormier made quick work of his most recent opponent Volkan Oezdemir earlier this year at UFC 220 in Boston, scoring a second-round stoppage victory over the feared knockout artist.

Cormier has defeated a handful of talented fighters during his time at light heavyweight including Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (2x), Alexander Gustafsson, Anderson Silva, Patrick Cummins and Dan Henderson.

The long time American Kickboxing Academy member, Cormier, also holds some impressive victories over some legit heavyweights such as former UFC champions Frank Mir and Josh Barnett, as well as former UFC title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.

Meanwhile, Stipe Miocic has proven himself to be the greatest heavyweight champion in the promotions history.

Since capturing the promotions coveted heavyweight title by defeating Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 in Brazil, Miocic has since gone on to defend his championship a record setting three times against formidable foes Junior Dos Santos, Alistair Overeem and most recently Francis Ngannou.

The co-main event of UFC 226 features the return of current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway who will be taking on undefeated contender Brian Ortega.

The proud Hawaiian, Holloway, was last seen in action at UFC 218 in Detroit where he successfully defended his UFC featherweight title via third-round TKO in a rematch against Jose Aldo.

“Blessed” is currently riding an amazing twelve-fight win streak which includes victories over Anthony Pettis, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Cub Swanson and Charles Oliveira.

As for Max Holloway’s undefeated opponent Brian Ortega (14-0 MMA), “T-City” was most recently seen in action this past March at UFC 222 where he became the first fighter in UFC history to score a stoppage victory over former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

Ortega has scored stoppage victories in all six of his octagon appearances.

Also on the card is a massive heavyweight fight featuring recent title challenger Francis Ngannou taking on fellow knockout artist Derrick Lewis.
