UFC Auckland results: Dan Hooker clobbers Ross Pearson with second-round knee (highlights)
The fourth bout of the UFC Auckland main card occurred at lightweight, where British veteran Ross Pearson took on New Zealand’s Dan Hooker.
Though Pearson was not without his moments in the fight, this one ultimately went to Hooker in dramatic fashion. Mid-way through the second round, the hometown hero planet an rocket-fuelled knee on his opponent’s chin, and it was lights out.

With this massive knockout win, Hooker makes a successful debut in the UFC lightweight division. He also separates himself from a recent loss to rising prospect Jason Knight. The Kiwi is now 14-7 in sum.
Pearson, meanwhile, finds himself on an unfortunate, four-fight skid, having given up fights to Will Brooks, Jorge Masvidal, Stevie Ray, and now Hooker. The Brit’s last win occurred in March of 2016, when he defeated Canada’s Chad Laprise by split decision.
