UFC Fight Night Austin Results: Curtis Millender KO’s Thiago Alves

A welterweight scrap between former title challenger Thiago Alves and Curtis Millender took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night Austin main card.

Round one begins and Millender starts off quickly by forcing the action. He throws a jab. Alves circling along the fence. He is looking to find his way inside. Alves with a left jab. Curtis misses with a spinning kick. Thiago responds with a nice low kick. Alves continues to circles along the fence. He lands a right jab but Millender leaps in with a flying knee. Alves absorbs the strike and once again circles out. Millender with a nice low kick. He throws a push kick that forces Alves to lose his balance. Another big flying knee from Curtis. Alves appears to be wobbled. Millender is all over him. Alves circles off the fence and attempts to find his bearings. Alves with a left jab. Millender smiles and delivers a massive uppercut. Alves hits the canvas and looks to be in all sorts of trouble. Alves survives some ground and pound and gets back up to his feet. He throws a combination of his own. Incredible heart being shown by Alves here. Thiago shoots in and scores a double leg takedown. Millender looks to lock in a guillotine choke. Alves breaks free of the submission attempt and the horn sounds to end round one.

Round two begins and Alves takes the center of the octagon and lands a low kick. Thiago misses with an uppercut. Both fighters exchange jabs. Millender lands a nice kick to the body. Alves returns fire with a low kick. He attempts a high kick but Millender is able to block it. Alves charges forward with a combination. Curtis appears to have slowed down a bit. Alves with a nice kick to the body followed by a low kick. Millender replies with a jab to the body. Alves is looking to find his way inside. Two minutes remain in round two. Alves leaps in with a left hook. He lands another but Curtis this time is able to counter him with a right jab. Alves is forcing the action now. He lands a left hand and then a right. Alves with a kick to the body. Millender lands a huge knee and Alves drops to the floor. This one is all over. WOW!
