Rodriguez (19-4 MMA) will enter the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Alex Volkanovski in July of last year. Jeremy Stephens became a walking target for fans at UFC Mexico after his fight against Yair Rodriguez was stopped after just 15 seconds. Stephens was unable to continue fighting in the main event after Rodriguez accidentally poked him in the eye at the start of the first round. Fans were unsurprisingly disappointed by the early stoppage, and took action into their own hands by pelting beer cans and garbage toward the cage.

UFC Mexico was a solid card, but unfortunately, it ended on an ugly note. Seconds into the card’s main event, Mexico’s Yair Rodriguez inadvertently raked his opponent Jeremy Stephen’s eye. After taking the full, allotted five minutes to recover, Stephens was unable to continue and the fight was waved off.

The highly anticipated featherweight main event ended after mere seconds of actual action due to an accidental eye poke. ‘El Pantera’ caught ‘Lil Heathen’ with an openhand slap which appeared to graze the eye. After a full five minutes of recovery time was utilized, the doctors in attendance determined that Jeremy Stephens was no longer fit to continue.
