UFN 87 Results: Gunnar Nelson submits Albert Tumenov

A welterweight bout between Gunnar Nelson (15-2-1 MMA) and Albert Tumenov (17-3 MMA) took place on the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 87 event in Rotterdam.

Round one begins and Nelson leaps forward with punches. Tumenov with a leg kick. Gunnar with a nice left hook on the button. Tumenov with a body kick. Nice right hand counter from Albert. He follows up with a solid body shot. The fighters clinch and then break. Nelson with a good push kick to the body. He follows up with another solid kick and then a takedown. Nelson immediately moves to full mount. This is not good for Tumenov. Two minutes remain in the opening round. Nelson with a good short elbow from the top. Tumenov bucks his hips but is unable to shake Nelson. Good right elbow from Gunnar. One minute remaining in the round. Another nice elbow from Gunnar. Tumenov rolls and gets back to his feet. Good shot to the body from Albert. He leaps in with a left and then lands a side kick to the body of Nelson. Round one comes to an end.

Round two begins and Tumenov opens with a good body shot. Excellent leg kick from Albert. He paws with the jab. Nelson ducks under and looks for a takedown. He has Tumenov pressed against the cage. They break, Nelson with a left hook. And another. Tumenov with a crisp left jab. Nelson with a left hook. Nelson shoots in and scores with a takedown. He quickly moves to side control. Three minutes remain in round two. Gunnar passes in to full mount with 2:45 left in the round. He takes the back of Albert and locks in a body triangle. He’s looking for a rear-naked choke. He locks it in place and Tumenov taps out.
