Alleged victim claims Conor McGregor went in for handshake before smashing phone
UFC Star Conor McGregor was attested in Miami after allegedly stealing then smashing Ahmed Abdirzak’s cell phone.
The former two-division UFC champion, McGregor, was arrested for strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief.
The incident occurred Monday morning at Fountainebleau in Miami. Abdirzak, a London resident, told TMZ that McGregor pulled a fast one on him and took his phone after he’d pulled up for a photo with the Irish star.
“He came to shake my hand, and as soon as he came to shake my hand, he pulled me in and grabbed my phone and started smashing it,” Abdirzak said (via MMAJunkie). “All these security guards literally surrounded me and pushed me out of the way. And he’s stomping on it.
“He was a lot rude. He was like, ‘Get the (expletive) out of my face. Move.’ And I was like, ‘Yo, sir can I have my phone back?’ And (security guards said), ‘Move, man. Conor said what Conor said.’”
Conor McGregor posted $12,500 bail and then released a statement pledging cooperation through his attorney.
The brash Irishman has been on the sidelines serving a suspension for his participation in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229.
McGregor’s next battle could now come against Abdirzak in the court room. The alleged victim claims he has lost priceless photos of his son as a result of Conor’s actions, this in addition to a functioning cell phone.
“I’ve got pictures of my son I’ll probably never get again.”
