Andre Lima’s post-fight tattoo earned him an extra $25k from UFC CEO Dana White
UFC Vegas 89 winner Andre Lima got more than he bargained for on fight night, but he made the most of it.
Lima took on Igor Severino inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada this past Saturday night. In round two, time had been called as Lima was complaining about a bite from his opponent. The referee waved off the bout. At first, the UFC commentary team felt a warning would’ve been more appropriate, but once Lima showed off the bite mark it was clear that Igor’s actions were intentional.

While Severino’s actions cost him the fight and his spot on the UFC roster, Lima cashed out by having some fun in the aftermath.

In a text message sent to Kevin Iole, Dana revealed that Igor Severino was being released from the UFC due to his actions. He also said there will be repercussions for Igor outside of the UFC that could make things quite challenging for his pro MMA career moving forward.
“Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters,” White said in a text message. “If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing u can do is bite your opponent. Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC.”
What happens with Igor going forward will be interesting to watch, but it’s Andre Lima who gets to move forward inside the Octagon.
