Austin Vanderford fires back at Instagram trolls following Paige VanZant’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit shoot
UFC flyweight contender Paige VanZant is the latest MMA star to model for Sports Illustrated. The popular fighter recently announced this exciting news on her official Instagram account, and even shared a few clips from her first day of shooting.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the trolls and haters started to creep in and comment on VanZant’s Instagram posts.
While trolls of this kind are often just ignored — certainly what they deserve — VanZant’s husband Austin Vanderford wasn’t having it this time around.
Speaking in the comments section of one particular Paige VanZant Instagram post, Vanderford let loose on a handful of haters.
Austin Vanderford currently competes under the Bellator MMA banner. He made his debut with the promotion back in February, when he authored an impressive first-round submission victory over Cody Jones. His next most recent win occurred under the Final Fight Championship banner, where he defeated Edmilson Freitas via first-round punch. This win was preceded by a submission win over Angelo Trevino on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, which unfortunately did not earn him a UFC contract. Vanderford is an impressive 7-0 overall.
Paige VanZant, on the other hand, last fought in January, when she weathered some early adversity to defeat Rachael Ostovich by submission. This win corrected a two-fight skid for the fan favorite, who had been defeated by Jessica-Rose Clark and Michelle Waterson in her next most recent outings.
VanZant is currently 8-4 in sum. She was recently expected to return to the cage at UFC 236. Regrettably, she’s instead been sidelined with a fractured arm.
