Colby Covington fires back at Tyron Woodley after Woodley claimed he turned down their fight

By Drake Riggs - December 26, 2018

Booking a welterweight title bout seems to be more of a struggle than it should be for the UFC lately. With three fighters all in the immediate mix and their voices being heard when it comes to who and when they would like to fight next, there should be more clarity than there is.

Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley

After capturing the interim crown in June, Colby Covington seemed perfectly positioned to face his former teammate turned rival in the champion Tyron Woodley.

However, he has yet to do so thanks to a nose injury and the UFC’s impatience. At this point, Covington’s interim champion status appears to have been lost in his inactivity and according to Dana White, Kamaru Usman may have taken his place or at the very least earned a shot against him.

With that in mind, the current champion in Woodley has made it very clear that he wants Colby Covington next. And after claiming that Covington must have ‘bitched out’ again, ‘Chaos’ fired back only to get a quick response from Woodley.

“Stop lying @TWooodley,” Covington tweeted. “You know @ufc never sent me anything. If they did, Id sign it live on @TMZ before the ink went dry dummy. Tell the truth. You have no power and you’re being a yes man… AGAIN. Go ahead and take the easy way out. Unlike you Im a man of my word.”

“You are a bitch!” Woodley responded. “You were suppose to fight me in Sept and let Till nearly get killed. You are the easy way out. And talked all that shit and bitching out. Quit trying to call shots I’m the king. Go kiss the boss’ ass so I can kick your ass and retired the non sense.”

For Woodley, his last fight came at UFC 228 in September when he defeated Darren Till via dominant second-round submission.

What do you think will end up being the next UFC welterweight title fight?
