Colby Covington shares bold prediction for UFC 235’s Tyron Woodley vs. Kamaru Usman fight
Colby Covington is not happy that Kamaru Usman will be fighting Tyron Woodley for the promotions undisputed welterweight title at UFC 235 on March 2.
With that said, Covington remains confident that a future grudge match with “The Chosen One” will eventually come to fruition, this after Woodley “smokes” Usman in Las Vegas.
“Woodley’s going to smoke him,” Colby Covington told MMAjunkie Radio in a recent interview. “Usman’s a scrub. He shouldn’t even be in that position. He hasn’t even beat anybody in the top 10 coming off a win. His last two wins, his only ranked wins, are against guys coming off losses, and I already took their soul and left them bloody and beaten, and they had no will to fight anymore. He’s got a padded record. He shouldn’t even be in this position, but he talked his way up, he sucked off some people at the UFC to get in this position and played that little role. So, good for him.”
Tyron Woodley will enter UFC 235 sporting a 6-0-1 record over his past seven octagon appearances. In his most recent effort at September’s UFC 228 event, “T-Wood” submitted Darren Till in the second round.
Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman will enter the UFC 235 co-main event on a thirteen fight win streak. “The Nigerian Nightmare” was most recently seen in action this past November, where he scored a lopsided decision victory over former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.
As for Colby Covington, the now former UFC interim welterweight title holder recently stated that he would be open to the proposed UFC London matchup with Darren Till, this if certain conditions are met by the promotion.
Whether or not the UFC will meet Covington’s demands remains to be seen.
