Conor McGregor doubts he will be able to ‘fully walk away from fighting’
On Sunday, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor once again hopped onto Twitter and interacted with his fans. As is so often the case, this latest Twitter session provided some interesting insights into the sport’s biggest star.
Responding to one fan, McGregor explained that even though he certainly could retire from fighting right now, his love for the sport makes it difficult for him to walk away.
“I hear you but I love it dearly,” he wrote. “If I am being honest with myself I don’t think I will ever be able to fully walk away from fighting. We are all fighters in this world and each of us will be fighting for the rest of our time here. So why not do it live on PPV baby. Pop a bottle!”
As this fan suggests, Conor McGregor no longer needs to fight for money. In addition to his record-breaking fight purses, he’s got multiple side businesses on the go, including his super successful Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey.
The Irishman’s whiskey has been incredibly successful since its release last year, and has actually caused a dip in Jameson sales in North America.
According to a recent report from the Irish Times, Proper No. Twelve “sold out a six-month allocation in its first 10 days and has now shipped about 200,000 nine-litre cases since its launch.”
“Jameson, which has led the Irish whiskey renaissance, is seeing a slowdown in growth in the US with analysts attributing it in part to the launch of Conor McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve brand last year,” the same reported added.
Do you think we’ll see Conor McGregor back in the cage this year?
