Daniel Cormier plotting to ambush Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania

By Tom Taylor - March 24, 2019

UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has been chasing a super fight with Brock Lesnar for quite a while now. Unfortunately for him, the fight has yet to materialize, and with Lesnar currently engaged with WWE, it could be some time before it does.

Speaking on ESPN during Saturday night’s UFC Nashville broadcast, Cormier hinted that he might try to expedite the process by ambushing Brock Lesnar at WWE’s WrestleMania 35 event on April 7.

“I don’t have a fight exactly scheduled yet, but I got my eyes on Brock Lesnar,” Cormier said (transcript via MMA Mania). “I may go to the WWE WrestleMania, and I may go cost him his title over there so he can hurry up and get to the UFC so I can beat him here.”

Brock Lesnar is certainly not the only option on the table for Daniel Cormier, but this seems to be a matchup that UFC President Dana White likes.

“Brock Lesnar is doing his thing with WWE. One of the things about Brock Lesnar is, when that guy is ready to fight, he is not shy. He will call me and let me know,” White told UFC reported Megan Olivi recently. “And to be honest with you, I am hoping to hear from that guy this summer.

“I think both guys really want it, Cormier wants it bad,” White added. “I know Cormier wants it bad, and Brock wants it bad. So when two fighters want to fight each other as bad as these two do, I think it’s going to happen.”

Do you think we’ll ever see Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar fight, or is this matchup doomed to remain in the realm of the hypothetical?
