Darren Till to Israel Adesanya: One day we’re gonna meet
Darren Till and Israel Adesanya are two of the most impressive strikers in the UFC, and as luck would have it, they’re only separated by one weight class.
As a matter of fact, they might soon reside in the same weight class, as the hulking welterweight Darren Til has long teased a move up to Adesanya’s middleweight turf. And should these two bright young striking specialists wind up in the same division, the UFC would be foolish not to pit them against each other.
Darren Till already seems to be thinking about the possibility.
Shortly after it was announced that Israel Adesanya will battle Kelvin Gastelum for the interim middleweight title at UFC 236, Till took to Instagram to congratulate his fellow striking specialist on the opportunity.
That said, he also assured that one day, he and Adesanya will share the cage.
“Big good luck to this beast [Israel Adesanya] on his interim title shot,” he said. “One day we’re gonna meet in the future & it’s gonna be epic!”
Darren Till is currently scheduled to return to the cage in the main event of UFC London on March 16, where he will battle fan favorite welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal. This bout will mark his opportunity to bounce back from the first setback of his mixed martial arts career, a submission loss to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Till is 17-1-1 overall.
Israel Adesanya, meanwhile, is a perfect 16-0 overall. His last fight occured at UFC 234 earlier this month, where he defeated former middleweight champion and undeniable MMA legend Anderson Silva by unanimous decision.
