Donald Cerrone announces his next fight is ‘in the works’

By Tom Taylor - January 27, 2019

Donald Cerrone is less than two weeks removed from an impressive knockout defeat of Alexander Hernandez, and already, he says his next fight is in the works.

The notoriously busy fighter dropped this interesting tidbit on his official Instagram page.

“What would you like to Know? Ask anything? ( only not about my next fight because that’s in the works and I can’t give you a answer),” Cerrone wrote on Instagram.

At present, it’s not clear who Donald Cerrone could be fighting next. That being said, the fan favorite, who has achieved massive success in the welterweight and lightweight divisions, has recently been flirting with a fight with former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor.

Cerrone has made a number of respectful callouts of McGregor over the last few months, and after knocking out Hernandez, finally got a positive response from the Irishman.

“For a fight like that Donald, I’ll fight you,” McGregor wrote on Twitter after Cerrone called him out from inside the Octagon. “Congratulations.”

Since then, Donald Cerrone has continued to attempt to goad Conor McGregor into a fight, even offering to drink Proper No. Twelve whiskey with him at the pre-fight press conference.

“Don’t worry [Conor McGregor], I’ll drink Proper Whiskey at the Press Conference with ya,” Cerrone wrote on social media recently. “Hell I’ll bring the Budweiser.”

“Sounds like a party!” McGregor responded.

While it’s not clear if the fight Donald Cerrone is referring to is this dream matchup with Conor McGregor, it’s certainly a possibility.

Stay tuned for updates as details emerge!
