Jon Jones responds to Daniel Cormier’s request for a third fight
Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier wants one more crack at Jon Jones before he decides to call it a career and hang up the gloves.
Cormier was a guest on today’s edition of the ‘Helwani Show’ where he revealed his desire to fight ‘Bones’ for a third time at light heavyweight.
“It’s all I want,” Cormier said of a third fight with Jones. “I think when I fight Jones, I feel most complete when I’m preparing for competition against that guy.”
Jones and Cormier have met twice in the past. Their first encounter occurred at UFC 182 in January of 2015, with ‘Bones’ emerging victorious by way of unanimous decision.
The bitter rivals would meet again at UFC 214, and once again Jon Jones proved victories, this time by way of knockout.
That victory was later overturned to a no-contest, this after Jones tested positive for the banned substance turinabol.
Jon Jones responded to Daniel Cormier’s request for a trilogy fight earlier today on Instagram. Check it out:
“Somebody tell that man to just stop already.” Jones wrote.
‘Bones’ is scheduled to defend his UFC light heavyweight title at July’s UFC 239 event against surging division contender Thiago Santos.
Meanwhile, Daniel Cormier is now officially set to rematch Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 this August.
If both men are to prove victorious in their upcoming title fights, is a trilogy bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier the right fight to make next?
