Khabib Nurmagomedov issues statement following UFC 229 win and post-fight brawl
Khabib Nurmagomedov has issued a statement after successfully defending his UFC lightweight title against Conor McGregor at UFC 229.
“The Eagle” defeated his bitter rival Conor McGregor in the headliner of tonight’s UFC 229 event in Las Vegas.
Immediately following his fourth-round submission win over the Irishman, Khabib Nurmagomedov proceeded to jump the octagon cage and attached Conor’s teammate and coach Dillon Danis.
Khabib’s post-fight actions caused a brawl to ensue between members of both Team McGregor and Team Nurmagomedov.
Despite his actions, Khabib Nurmagomedov was not sympathetic for Conor McGregor or his team when speaking at tonight’s UFC 229 post-fight press conference.
Khabib discusses the #UFC229 main event & post-fight brawl:
“This is respect sport. This is not a trash talking sport. I want to change this game. I don't want people talk shit about opponents, talk shit about his father, religion. You cannot talk about religion, nation.”— Chris Taylor (@CTaylor_96) October 7, 2018
