Khaos Williams explains how Jay-Z and Meek Mill inspire him
UFC welterweight prospect Khaos Williams explained how rappers Jay-Z and Meek Mill inspire him and got him through dark times in his life.
Williams is one of the most promising young fighters in the UFC welterweight division. In his first fight in the UFC earlier this year, he knocked out Alex Morono in just 27 seconds. And then in his second UFC fights this past weekend, Williams brutally knocked out Abdul Razak Alhassan in just 30 seconds. Based on those fights, he looks like one of the top young fighters in the UFC welterweight division.
During his post-fight interview following the win over Alhassan at UFC Vegas 14, Williams mentioned Jay-Z and Meek Mill and said the hip-hop stars inspired him in his own MMA career. Just their journey from their humble beginnings to superstardom now, Williams feels like his career is headed in the same direction.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Williams explained how Jay-Z and Meek Mill inspire him.
“Those guys inspired me. Every morning I wake up before my fights, I start my day off listening to Jay-Z. Y’all just inspired me. Y’all music, it got me through some dark times, it gave me some inspiration when I didn’t have the inspiration,” Williams said.
Williams looks like he’s on the fast-track by the UFC. After beating Morono earlier this year in a short-notice debut in the promotion, Williams earned a co-main event slot against Alhassan in a fight that promised to be entertaining. It turned out to be just that and a whole lot more, as Williams scored one of the best knockouts of the year in MMA. The UFC matchmakers and UFC president Dana White surely took notice, so don’t be surprised if Williams is paired up with a top-15 opponent next.
