Speaking with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Luke Rockhold revealed that he’s currently dealing with a plethora of different injuries.

“His left shin is infected again. He just got a stem cell graft put in. He sprained his right knee yesterday. MRI is scheduled for tonight. He broke his nose recently while grappling.” -Ariel Helwani

Luke Rockhold said he tried everything in his power to make it to MSG but, “I need at least one weapon to make it the party.” He’s hoping the recovery will be 4 weeks and he’ll be able to return in late 2018/early 2019.

Shortly after the news of Rockhold’s injury broke, the promotion announced that Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza would be replacing “Rocky” against Chris Weidman in the co-main event of UFC 230.

Souza was already schedule to fight at the November 3 event against David Branch.

With that said, Branch will now be fighting short-notice replacement Jared Cannonier at Madison Square Garden.
