Mike Perry details ‘hardest weight cut to date’ after UFC Fort Lauderdale weigh-ins
“Platinum” Mike Perry made weight for his UFC Fort Lauderdale showdown with Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira, but from the sounds of it, it wasn’t an easy feat. In fact, he’s calling his weight cut for this fight his most difficult yet.
Perry shed some light on this tough cut — and the overall sensation of weight cutting — in a Friday morning Instagram post.
“Hardest weight cut to date. Sheesh it’s so crazy the emotional roller coaster you get on and then you get to drink liquid again. In seconds I am 10lbs bigger. Water flowing through me cooling me down. Made it by a sliver too you don’t even know. Grateful for the help from my team right here. Couldn’t have done it without @platinumprincessofficial#Period #Priceless #Perfection My boys was tough in there too but they know what she goes through with me every step of the way. Now #LetsHaveSomeFun !!! #UfcFortLaudy” – Mike Perry on Instagram.
In this fight, Mike Perry will look to rebound from a November submission loss to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. This loss was preceded by a thrilling decision victory over Paul “The Irish Dragon” Felder, and a pair of competitive decision losses to Max Griffin and Santiago Ponzinibbio. The Floridian is 12-4 overall.
His opponent Oliveira, meanwhile, is 19-6-1 overall. In his last fight, he was sliced open and submitted by Gunnar Nelson.
Do you think Mike Perry will be affected by his gruelling weight cut on fight night?
