Oscar De La Hoya challenges Dana White to fight: ‘Let’s get in the ring’
UFC President Dana White and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya have exchanged countless verbal blows over the last few weeks, and now, De La Hoya seems interesting in exchanging physical blows with the UFC boss.
Speaking on The Luke Thomas Show this week, the boxer turned promoter challenged Dana White to a three-round boxing match on Cinco De Mayo.

“Let’s get in the ring,” Oscar De La Hoya said. “Let’s get in the ring, three rounds. Let’s do this. Let’s do this under Canelo [Alvarez], Cinco de Mayo. I’ll even give you five months so you can get off the juice, and then we can get in great shape and then we go three rounds. Look, I’m going to give you what, a 50 pound advantage? It’s ok. I can take you on. Let’s do it.”
“Oh wait he’s never laced up a glove in his life,” De La Hoya added. “I’m sorry, I forgot about that.”
Oscar De La Hoya retired from boxing after a 2008 loss to Manny Pacquiao. At the time of his retirement, his record stood at 39-6, with 30 wins by knockout. Highlights of this impressive record include victories over names like Ricardo Mayorga, Arturo Gatti, Julio César Chávez (twice) and many more.
Dana White has never fought professionally, though he was briefly linked to a boxing match with Tito Ortiz many years ago. Unfortunately, to the disappointment of fans everywhere, this fight with Ortiz never happened.
Interestingly, shortly after Oscar De La Hoya promoted a rematch between Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, Dana White said he would love it if somebody would convince the former boxer to return to the ring. From the sounds of it, he could be the man to do just that.
“I hope someone talks Del La Hoya into fighting again, and I hope the State of California makes the fight, and I hope he gets knocked out just like Chuck Liddell did,” White said on a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered podcast. “In the first round. The cokehead nut ball.”
