Over the last few months, there’s been recurring discussion about a potential boxing match between undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. and reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov — primarily from Nurmagomedov’s camp, who have been feverishly campaigning for the matchup. In the opinion of UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the undefeated lightweight champ Nurmagomedov, who has never boxed before, would be wise to steer clear of Mayweather.

Renato Moicano is a rising star in the UFC’s featherweight division. He’s been with the UFC since 2014 and has gone 5-1 during that time with his only loss coming against Brian Ortega. Since the loss to Ortega, Moicano defeated Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson to then become the backup fighter for the UFC 231 main event. Moicano ended up not having to fight as Max Holloway and Ortega both made weight. However, being the backup fighter showed he was the number one contender at featherweight, and he has to prove that when he takes on Jose Aldo at UFC Fortaleza.

Last night, in the main event of Bellator 214, light heavyweight champ Ryan Bader became Bellator’s first two-division titleholder, knocking out Fedor Emelianenko in less than a minute to capture the Bellator heavyweight title. Heading into this fight, Ryan Bader says he drilled the very punch he used to topple Emelianenko many times. He knew there would be an opening when the Russian legend engaged, and practiced extensively to make sure he’d be ready for it.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till recently took to Twitter where he called out former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, among others. Till, who is set to fight Jorge Masvidal on March 16 at UFC London, called both Rafael dos Anjos and Santiago Ponzinibbio “scared rats” on Twitter.

Earlier this week, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov discussed the upcoming UFC debut of former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight titleholder Ben Askren. “He never fight in the UFC,” Nurmagomedov told Submission Radio of Askren. “He has to fight in the UFC first of all. He has to show his levels because I see how someone smash him in ONE FC. Somebody like smashed him in ONE FC. He just signed to the UFC and tried talk, you know. But now everybody tries to talk and promote these things, but you have to compete in the UFC, then we’re gonna see his levels.”

In the opinion of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, Cyborg’s shocking loss to Amanda Nunes can be attributed to the fact that she didn’t stick to her strategy. That being said, Tate feels Cyborg has never really needed a strategy before, so she can’t exactly be faulted for that mistake.
