Originally scheduled to be a vacant lightweight title bout between perennial top contenders in Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, things would drastically change after a freak injury forced Ferguson out of the fight.

For a brief moment, there was an end to when we would have to stop waiting for Dominick Cruz to return to action. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t last very long as yet another injury postponed his storied career. Having been set to return at UFC 233 on January 26 against John Lineker, a shoulder injury threw the fight into question and after the card’s cancellation as a whole, it appears that the fight won’t be rebooked. At least anytime soon.

Originally, streaking UFC flyweight contender Andrea Lee was expected to meet Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark on the undercard of this weekend’s UFC Milwaukee event. Unfortunately, this exciting flyweight matchup was nixed when Clark was deemed unfit to compete by the UFC medical team. UFC statement on JRC: "On Friday morning UFC flyweight Jessica-Rose Clark was deemed medically unfit to compete by UFC physicians. As a result the scheduled flyweight bout with Clark and Andrea Lee has been cancelled" #UFCMilwaukee

After a long struggle to find a suitable main event for UFC 233, which was scheduled for January 26 in Anaheim, the promotion has decided to cancel the card outright. The bouts that were scheduled for this event, including a high profile welterweight bout between former UFC champ Robbie Lawler and former ONE and Bellator champ Ben Askren, will be rescheduled for future cards. It did not take long for the UFC to find a new for this Lawler vs. Askren fight.

Shortly after UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229, he leapt over the side of the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. At the same time, McGregor got into it with two of Nurmagomedov’s training partners inside the cage. Unsurprisingly, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), the organization that oversaw this UFC 229 card, was not pleased with this chaotic scene. Discipline was promised for Nurmagomedov, McGregor, and all those involved almost immediately. As of yet, however, it’s been unclear what kind of punishment the fighters will receive.
