There is already plenty of buzz about a potential rematch between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and the man he defeated in the UFC 229 main event, former two-division champ Conor McGregor. Yet in the eyes of Daniel Cormier — a long-time training partner of Nurmagomedov— McGregor’s team would have a real ’cause for concern’ in this potential rematch. Daniel Cormier’s logic? Conor McGregor has already done about as well as he can do against Khabib Nurmagomedov — and that certainly wasn’t enough.

While this rematch would generate massive amounts of money, however, its hardly the most sensible fight to make next from a rankings standpoint. At UFC 230, the co-main event was supposed to be Dustin Poirer taking on Nate Diaz. Diaz was set to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon against Poirer. However, just weeks ahead of UFC 230, UFC fans got devastating news. Poirer had to withdraw from the event due to an injury. Speaking with Luke Thomas on the MMA Hour, Poirer revealed the injury was his hip. An injury that has been bothering him for quite some time.

Unfortunately, Romero missed weight for this bout, which made it a tough defeat for Rockhold to swallow.
