UFC president Dana White has confirmed Colby Covington is the No. 1 contender in the UFC welterweight division following a dominant victory over Robbie Lawler this past weekend. Speaking to reporters following the Contender Series on Tuesday in Las Vegas, White said Colby Covington is next in line for a fight against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Last week, in a sit down interview with Laura Sanko, the UFC president announced that he, along with the organization, were “no longer in the Cris Cyborg business”, thus releasing her and giving their blessing to the former women’s featherweight champion to take her talents anywhere she wanted.

Many thought Jones lost the fight and that Santos deserved a rematch, after taking the champ the distance despite suffering severe knee injuries.

The two fought back in 2010, and the American defeated the future UFC champ from Kyrgyzstan by stoppage. Although that was nine years ago, the outcome is still somewhat controversial.
