Tony Ferguson calls out Conor McGregor, McGregor responds

On Tuesday, former UFC interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson called for a fight with Conor McGregor — given that he’s been left out of the upcoming interim title fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier.

““No Sauce Mcnuggets” [Conor McGregor] Just A Replica Of A Former Self He Used To Be,” Ferguson wrote in a signature, all-caps Tweet. “I’ve Got A Solid Right Hand To Test That Chin Of His. How Sweet It Is, -Tiramisu Tuesday.”

It didn’t take long for McGregor to answer this callout from Ferguson.

The Irishman’s response isn’t entirely clear, though he does seem to give Ferguson props as a fellow fighter managed by Paradigm.

“If we have the ability to go back, Tony. Then we have the ability to go forward again,” McGregor responded. “I wish you well and am praying for you as a fellow colleague. Respect to my Paradigm familia. Yours sincerely, Burger King.”

Conor McGregor is currently suspended, having been hit with a six-month ban for his role in the infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl. He’ll be eligible to fight again in April.

His last fight occurred in the UFC 229 main event, where he came up short to reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. His next most recent bout occurred in the boxing ring, where he was defeated by undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his boxing debut. His second most recent MMA bout occurred all the way in 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight belt.

While Tony Ferguson would be a very exciting opponent for McGregor, the Irishman has recently been linked to a fan friendly showdown with the always entertaining Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Ferguson also last fought at UFC 229, where he defeated Anthony Pettis by corner stoppage. With this victory, he extended his win-streak to a jaw-dropping 11-straight.
