Tony Ferguson responds to Dustin Poirier’s recent callout

By Tom Taylor - December 12, 2018

With UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champ Conor McGregor both currently tied up with looming discipline from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Dustin Poirier has recently been angling for a fight with the only other top lightweight available: Tony Ferguson.

Poirier made his first callout of Ferguson on Twitter.

“Just woke up and read theres gonna be more waiting around at the top of the lightweight division. Let’s give the fans the violence they deserve Tony Ferguson. Let’s go UFC !!! Stop holding up my weight class!” – Dustin Poirier on Twitter

Dustin Poirier also called Tony Ferguson in an interview with MMAjunkie.

“Let’s get this s*** going,” Poirier said. “I’m sick of this. I want to fight Tony and if it’s not Tony, good for Tony, he’s f***ing more than earned his shot at Khabib. He’s definitely next in line for the world championship. He’s ahead of me. I agree. But if that’s not going to happen, let’s let the two best guys who are available go at it. Or let me and Conor go at it.”

While Poirier has been working hard to make this fight happen, it unfortunately doesn’t seem like Tony Ferguson is interested.

Ferguson issued his response on Twitter.

“I Liked You Better When You Were Quiet Kid. Don’t Ruin A Good Thing You Got “Goin’… Diamond” @DustinPoirier TonyFergusonMMA Is Tops, Much More Efficient Than @TheNotoriousMMA &  @TeamKhabib In The Same Day. I Already Know How To Beat You By The Way You Tweet. Sit Down.” – Tony Ferguson on Twitter.

This response from Ferguson prompted Poirier to crank it up a notch with some trash talk.

“Lol let’s go pussy fart”- Dustin Poirier on Twitter.

Does a fight between Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson interest you given that Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will not be able to fight again for some time?
