UFC 237 medical suspensions: Rose Namajunas, Anderson Silva facing lengthy absences

UFC 237 has come and gone — and what a card it was.

The event, which went down in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday night, featured some memorable scraps and some truly nasty finishes. As is so often the case with action-packed cards of this kind, the result is a number of lengthy medical suspensions.

Rose Namajunas, who was knocked out by a Jessica Andrade slam in the main event, has been suspended six months, though a favorable neck MRI could expedite her return to action.

Anderson Silva, who was crippled by Jared Cannonier leg kicks in the co-main event, is also facing a six month sit, though he could be cleared earlier with a physician’s approval.

Laureano Staropoli and Bethe Correira also received a six-month suspensions, but both could also fight again sooner if they’re cleared by doctors.

• Anderson Silva: suspended 180 days. If cleared by physician for right knee injury, suspended for 45 days with 30 days no contact.

• Laureano Staropoli: suspended 180 days. If cleared by nose x-ray, suspended for 30 days with 21 days no contact

• Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: suspended 60 days with 45 days no contact.
• Irene Aldana: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact.
• Bethe Correia: suspended 180 days. If cleared by physician for right elbow injury, suspended for 45 days with 30 days no contact.
