UFC on ESPN+ 1 Results: Glover Teixeira submits Karl Roberson
A light heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Karl Roberson kicked off tonight’s UFC on ESPN+ 1 main card from Brooklyn.
Former title challenger Glover Teixeira enters tonight’s contest having gone 2-3 over his past five fights. In his most recent effort in July, Glover suffered a unanimous decision loss to perennial division contender Corey Anderson.
Meanwhile, Karl Roberson most recently competed at November’s UFC 230 event in New York, where he scored a decision win over Jack Marshman.
Round one begins and Roberson presses forward and throws a kick to the body of Glover. Teixeira leaps in with a right hand and then shoots for a takedown. Roberson avoids and connects with some big elbows. Glover is hurt. He goes to the ground Roberson continues to pepper him with strikes. More elbows from Karl. He moves to mount. Teixeira scrambles and gets back to his feet. He shoots in and scores a takedown. Glover moves immediately into mount. Crazy, this fight turned in the blink of an eye. Big punches from Glover now. He sets up an arm-triangle choke but Roberson is wise to it and escapes. After a few more punches, Glover Teixeira once again sets up an arm-triangle choke submission and this time it is deep. He puts on the squeeze and Roberson is forced to tapout.
