UFC Rochester Results: Charles Oliveira finishes Nik Lentz (VIDEO)

A lightweight bout between rivals Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz took place on the main card of tonight’s UFC Rochester event.

This will mark the third time that Lentz and Oliveira have squared off inside the octagon.

The pairs first meeting at ‘UFC Live 4′ ended in a no-contest, this after an illegal knee spelled an end to the fight.

‘The Carny’ and “Do Bronx’ would meet again in May of 2015, with Oliveira emerging victorious by way of third round submission.

Nik Lentz (30-9 MMA) will enter tonight’s trilogy bout on a two-fight win streak, his latest being a unanimous decision victory over Scott Holtzman at UFC on ESPN 1.

Meanwhile, Charles Oliveira (26-8 MMA) will enter UFC Rochester on four-fight win streak, with all four of those victories coming by way of submission. During that stretch the Brazilian has tapped out Clay Guida, Christos Giagos, Jim Miller and David Teymur.

Round one of this UFC Rochester lightweight tilt begins and Oliveira starts off with a body kick. Lentz responds with a low kick. Charles comes forward with a flurry and forces the clinch. Lentz breaks free and lands a right hook. Oliveira comes forward with left hand and then a front kick to the body. He lands a hard low kick and then a straight right. Lentz is on the retreat. He lands a low kick as Oliveira comes forward. The Brazilian with a knee up the middle. Lentz comes forward but eats a left. Nik with a good low kick but Charles Oliveira responds with a straight right. ‘Do Bronx’ leaps in with a right elbow. That appears to have cut Lentz open. Yup, he is bleeding from just over top of his left eye. Oliveira with a nice counter left hook. He snaps a hard jab in the face of Lentz. Another good shot and Lentz shoots in desperately. Oliveira scores a sweep and moves to side control. He lands a huge elbow. Another good elbow from Charles Oliveira. Nik Lentz continues to work from his but he is in all sorts of trouble. After a scramble Lentz is back up. He comes forward with a jab but Oliveira returns fire with a kick. The horn sounds to end round one.

Round two begins and Nik Lentz charges forward and immediately shoots for a takedown. He gets it but Oliveira is already working on a guillotine attempt. This looks deep. Lentz thought about tapping but didn’t and now escapes. Oliveira lands an upkick from his back and the referee steps in as that was not a legal strike. We restart and Oliveira gets back up to his feet. He drops Lentz with a right hand. Big hammer fists from Charles Oliveira! This one is all over folks! WOW! Five straight for ‘Do Bronx’.
