UFC title fights that still need to be booked in 2017
TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt – Men’s bantamweight title fight
Cody Garbrandt is coming off one of the most spectacular performances of the 2016 year at UFC 207 this past month where he scored a convincing decision victory over long time division kingpin Dominick Cruz, thus becoming the UFC’s undisputed bantamweight champion.
Garbarandt will now coach Season 25 of The Ultimate Fighter opposite former teammate TJ Dillashaw.
Dillashaw, a former UFC bantamweight champion in his own right, is also coming off a remarkable performance at UFC 207. TJ dominated surging contender John Lineker for fifteen straight minutes on route to a lopsided decision victory at the event. After the fight, it was revealed that Dillashaw had actually broken the Brazilians jaw in two places during the first-round of their bout at UFC 207.
The Dillashaw vs. Garbrandt title fight is expected to take place this summer following the conclusion of TUF.
Max Holloway vs. Jose Aldo – Men’s featherweight title fight
Max Holloway claimed the UFC’s interim featherweight title at UFC 206 last month in Toronto, this after he handed former lightweight title holder Anthony Pettis the first stoppage loss of his career.
Meanwhile, Jose Aldo recently became the UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion, this after the promotion stripped Conor McGregor of his 145-pound strap shortly after the Irishman’s historic victory at UFC 205.
Max Holloway just finished up a family trip to Disney and will likely be looking to return to training now that he is back in his native Hawaii.
With that said, fight fans should expect to see a UFC featherweight title unification bout between Aldo and Holloway put together by UFC officials for the Spring of 2017.
Yoel Romero vs. Michael Bisping – Middleweight title fight
Yoel Romero became the UFC’s top middleweight contender this past November at UFC 205 in New York after he scored a devastating flying knee knockout victory over former title holder Chris Weidman.
Meanwhile, Michael Bisping was most recently seen in action in the main event of UFC 204 where he earned a hard fought decision victory over mixed martial arts legend Dan Henderson.
“The Count” recently had minor knee surgery but expects to be healthy and ready to defend his belt in May.
Anthony Johnson vs. Daniel Cormier – Light Heavyweight title fight
Anthony Johnson and Daniel Cormier were expected to throw down for a second time in the main event of last month’s UFC 206 per-per-view card in Toronto.
However, “DC” suffered an injury and was forced to pullout of the event.
In their first encounter, “DC” was able to survive an early storm from “Rumble” and eventually defeated the feared knockout artist via submission.
Anthony Johnson is coming off a devastating one punch knockout victory over Glover Teixeira in his most recent octagon appearance.
Cormier is apparently back in training so fight fans should expect this highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight rematch to go down sometime this Spring.
