VIDEO | Former Cormier training partner crashes Jon Jones appearance, security intervenes

By Thomas Taylor - May 10, 2019

Ahead of his planned UFC 200 rematch with Jon Jones, which was infamously cancelled at the last minute, Daniel Cormier enlisted the help of 6’9″ kickboxer Chi Lewis-Parry. The hope was that Lewis-Parry could help Cormier prepare for the long, dangerous strikes of Jones.

In the lead-up to this scheduled fight, Lewis-Parry followed in Cormier’s footsteps and entered into a pretty heated beef with the champ Jones. Years later, it seems that beef is still alive and well.

Jon Jones is currently in the UK for the Bodypower UK 2019 event. During one of his scheduled appearances, he was ambushed by Lewis-Parry, and chaos ensued.

After some back and forth jawing and plenty of obscenities from Lewis-Parry, the pair had to be separated by security.

“Hey, homeboy, how much they paying you to pretend to be a nice guy?” the 6’9” Lewis-Parry said to Jon Jones (transcript via MMA Fighting). “You know you’re a dickhead. Everyone knows you’re a dickhead. You remember last time when you had your brothers? Where are your brothers now?”

Though Chi Lewis-Parry is best known for his kickboxing career, he’s also unbeaten at 7-0-1 in MMA. The Brit was even briefly linked a ONE Championship heavyweight title fight with Brandon Vera, but the fight never came to fruition.

Jon Jones, on the other hand, is currently gearing up for a light heavyweight title defense opposite Thiago Santos. The bout will occur at UFC 239 on July 6 in Las Vegas. If he wins this fight, it’s possible he’ll be booked for a trilogy fight with Daniel Cormier.
