Valentina Shevchenko earned herself a shot at UFC women’s bantamweight gold tonight in Denver as she scored a second-round submission victory over Julianna Pena in the main event of UFC on FOX 23.
Pena seemed to be getting the better of Shevchenko early on in round two, scoring some good knees from the clinch and earning a pair of takedowns.
However, Shevchenko was able to catch Pena in a beautiful armbar submission that forced Julianna to tapout at the 4:29 mark of the second-round.
