Dana White: Conor McGregor does not want to fight in Las Vegas ever again

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor may never fight in Las Vegas ever again.

At his hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday for the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference water bottle fiasco against Nate Diaz and his team, McGregor was handed a $150,000 fine and ordered to 50 hours of community service for his involvement in the incident.

“The Notorious” tweeted on Monday after his hearing, “I get fined more than these bums get paid.”

That short statement is basically all that we have gotten from “The Notorious” regarding the fine, which was five percent of his disclosed $3 million fight purse.

McGregor’s lawyer, Audie Attar spoke about the punishment on ESPN and said that they were glad that “The Notorious” did not face any suspension for the incident, as McGregor is set to fight Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title on November 12 at UFC 205 in New York.

On Wednesday, UFC President Dana White appeared on “The Herd” to announce Ronda Rousey’s return to the Octagon at UFC 207 where she will face Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s bantamweight title. White also said on the show that McGregor was not happy about his punishment terms from the NSAC. Apparently, Conor McGregor called Dana White to tell him that he does not want to fight in Las Vegas ever again after being given the $150,000 fine and 50 hours of community service.

“Conor McGregor hit me and said, ‘I don’t ever want to fight in Nevada again. Ever.’

“Now how does that make sense for the state of Nevada? That you’re gonna try fine this kid and Nate that much money. It just makes people not wanna come fight in our state. And that’s not a good thing.

“And, guess what? Conor McGregor doesn’t need Nevada. He can fight anywhere. He could fight in Iowa. We could put his fight on an island off the coast of anywhere. It just makes no sense for the state. It’s just terrible.”
