Since Georges St-Pierre took his indefinite hiatus from the UFC after his UFC 167 win over Johny Hendricks back in 2013, there has been much speculation as to when ‘Rush’ would return to the Octagon.
Throughout the past several months, there have been hints as to St-Pierre coming out of retirement. First, St-Pierre’s Tristar teammate Rory MacDonald spilled the beans at a Q&A when he informed fans that St-Pierre would be returning for super fights, and not the championship. After that, it was revealed that St-Pierre would be doing a 6-week ‘trial’ training camp to see how his body responded to going through fight preparation.
Since then there has been radio silence in regards to a potential GSP return. However in the wake of UFC 196, St-Pierre’s coach Firas Zahabi told Nate Diaz that he would try to get St-Pierre on board for a bout between the two.
