Many fans enjoy hearing Joe Rogan’s opinion on topics that go far beyond fighting and mixed martial arts. This is why the UFC commentator and comedian’s podcast is so popular. Speaking with Bellator heavyweight Justin Wren on his recent JRE MMA Show podcast episode, Rogan touched on UFC 218, which took place over the weekend in Detroit, Michigan. Rogan was extremely impressed with the wars put on with Yancy Medeiros vs. Alex Oliveira and Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje. Rogan was also blown away by Francis Ngannou’s ferocious KO win over Alistair Overeem. Rogan then went over Max Holloway’s impressive performance against Jose Aldo in his first UFC featherweight title defense.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was seen on the red carpet in London on Monday attending the annual Fashion Awards, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall. McGregor was seen in attendance with Donatella Versace who was honored at the awards, along with four-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, model and actress Jourdan Dunn, model Irina Shayk, and singer Rita Ora.

From a Bellator scuffle with a referee and Bellator staff member, rumored stories of a bar fight involving a cartel associate, to a recent courthouse appearance that had a judge livid with his tardiness, McGregor has been living up to his “Notorious” nickname.

Last year many people caught wind of what seemed to be a Twitter beef between UFC commentator Joe Rogan and bodybuilder C.T. Fletcher. Rogan was talking about how the physique of Tyron Woodley could be detrimental in a five-round title fight against Robbie Lawler saying that all the muscle “The Chosen One” carries around could lead to him getting gassed out in the championship rounds of the fight.

Chael Sonnen is very familiar with rising UFC middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum, having coached him on season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter. That said, Sonnen claims that for a long time, he couldn’t actually identify the one thing that made Gastelum so good. While it was clear the young fighter had few weaknesses, his true strength was difficult to identify. “I would watch him every day in practice,” Sonnen said in the latest episode of Beyond the Fight. “I would tell him, ‘Kelvin, I don’t know what it is you’re good at, but I also don’t know what your weaknesses are.’ He was just naturally in very, very good position. He naturally would follow the basics. Hands up, chin down. He naturally was a little bit shorter for the weight class, and it was harder for guys to get underneath him. He naturally just didn’t mind pushing the pace and competing, which is a really big part of it. It’s not just the punches and the kicks. You’ve got to have a competitor, man, you’ve got have a guy who’s got some dog inside of him. He just had all of these things. But I just kept telling him that, and it almost turned into a laughable moment. I’d keep saying that, every time he’d fight, and I was congratulating him, but I’d say ‘man, I’m not positive what it is you’re good at. I just sure can’t find your weakness.’ The guy was impossible to submit, so hard to take down, wouldn’t give up, powerful hands, buried his chin so he could take a shot…”

There has yet to be any statement from Conor McGregor or the UFC on this alleged incident but there have been several people who have claimed that the UFC lightweight champion got into a physical altercation while in a bar last night in Crumlin, Ireland. Take it for what it is at this point with people basically being able to post whatever they please on social media whether it is totally made up or an honest recollection of their experience.

Rising UFC welterweight Colby Covington has some real history with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. According to Covington, the two MMA stars were college roommates from 2007-2009 at Iowa Central Community College where they both won junior college national wrestling titles together. Covington has a way with his words that has gotten him a lot of attention. Recently, Covington sent a harsh tweet to Jones, who wished Georges St-Pierre well in his return to the Octagon at UFC 217.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor brought some of his “Notorious” publicity to Bellator on Friday during the Bellator 187 event that took place in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor’s teammate Charlie Ward knocked out opponent John Redmond at the last seconds of round one and “The Notorious” scaled the cage and jumped in to celebrate Ward’s win. Marc Goddard, who already had some history with McGregor was the referee for the Ward vs. Redmond bout had a word with McGregor who then erupted and shoved and yelled at Goddard in the cage. McGregor was also seen slapping another official while sitting on top of the cage as the official tried to get him off.

With his historic win over Michael Bisping at UFC 217, GSP became the fourth fighter in history to become a two-weight UFC world champion. St-Pierre says that he is contractually obligated to fight interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker next, if he decides to continue competing. However, many fans and pundits are all clamoring over a matchup between GSP and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
