2016 was a great year for UFC knockouts. We saw Michael Bisping KO Luke Rockhold. We saw Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone chop Matt Brown down with a head kick. We watched Tyron Woodley crush the notoriously durable Robbie Lawler to win UFC welterweight gold. We saw Conor McGregor smash Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight title. We watched Jimi Manuwa club Ovince St. Preux to a second-round KO. We witnessed Stipe Miocic’s first title win, as he clobbered Fabricio Werdum to a first-round knockout. The list goes on and on. As amazing as 2016 was for emphatic knockout wins in the Octagon, however, 2017 is looking like it could be even better. Last night, Bellator MMA touched down in the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Bellator 178. The card produced a handful of truly impressive finishes. One of the more impressive finishes on the card was dealt by rising featherweight prospect, AJ McKee, who is the son of MMA veteran Antonio McKee. The younger McKee authored his win with a partially blocked, second round head kick. This thunderous kick, which occurred just 1:15 into the first round,  sent his foe Dominic Mazzotta careening to the mat in an unconscious heap.

MMA, of course, is chock full of hard punchers, but there was something special about Rumble’s fists… They seemed extra concussive. Though only his opponents can say for sure, his punches seemed to land with the same impact as a 40-pound dumbbell fired out of a cannon. At times, it was almost uncomfortable watching his punches land. You worried for the people he was hitting.
