UFC Fight Night 103 takes place in Phoenix, Arizona this Sunday as UFC Hall of Fame legend BJ Penn makes his way back into the Octagon to face rising star Yair Rodriguez.

Penn is coming out of retirement to take on the young 24-year-old who has gotten a lot of attention with his flashy striking style. Penn will be looking to establish himself in the featherweight division with a win over his current #10 UFC ranked featherweight opponent with the ultimate goal of getting a third UFC title in a third weight division.

BJ Penn defends lightweight title

Only three fighters, Randy Couture, BJ Penn, and most recently Conor McGregor have won UFC titles in two divisions. However, no one has ever been able to capture three titles in three divisions.

“He doesn’t understand the type of experience I have,” said Penn. “I’m not here to shake your hand, be nice to you. Don’t look at me and smile at me.”

The Hawaiian with the “just scrap” attitude has been fighting professionally since 2001 and hasn’t looked at the sport any differently from his start.

“I been in thousands of fist fights, well, hundreds, you know? Where we’re mad at each other, where we like each other, all that stuff it doesn’t matter to me. So, I don’t know. I just saw him earlier. I mean, looked like he wanted to shake my hand. Why you trying to shake my hand? I want to punch you in your face, you know what I mean?

“So, this is just a different kind of thing. This isn’t fun. If he’s gonna sit here and tell me this is, ‘Oh I like this because this is fun.’ Yeah, let’s see how fun it is when you’re waking up. Really. This isn’t fun. This is serious shit.”
