VIDEO | Conor McGregor confirms fight in Russia against Khabib Nurmagomedov is on his radar

By Russell Ess - July 17, 2017

There are a lot of people speculating that Conor McGregor will not be fighting in the UFC after he receives his massive payday from the boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. Even UFC President Dana White isn’t sure if “The Notorious” will walk away from fighting after August 26.

However, McGregor is still giving his fans hope as White did state that the UFC lightweight champion is interested in fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia. McGregor was asked by BT Sport if that was really the case.

“That’s certainly an option that I’m exploring,” said McGregor. “That would be a spectacle. It’d be like something out of Rocky. I suppose this whole story is like a Rocky story, right? So why not face a man in his home country, and you know what I mean, in a crazy place like Russia. It’s certainly something I’d like to do. There’s a couple of options on the table so let’s see what unfolds.”

When asked if we will see “The Notorious” back in the Octagon by the end of 2017, McGregor didn’t give a definitive answer but is giving his fans something to hold on to.

“I believe so. I believe so. I believe I’ll come out of this fight without a scratch. A couple weeks in to refresh the jiu-jitsu and my wrestling – not that I’ve stopped training that either, I’ve still kept up on that, just less – and then we’ll see what happens.”
