VIDEO | Daniel Cormier explains his use of the towel at today’s UFC 210 weigh ins
Current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier made headlines earlier today after he came in 1.2 pounds over weight for his UFC 210 title fight with Anthony Johnson.
However, just two minutes after initially weighing in at 206.2-pounds, Cormier was back on the scales and miraculously made the title fight weight of 205-pounds.
Cormier’s second weigh in sparked a ton of controversy as “DC” appeared to use the privacy towel to offset his weight.
The UFC light heavyweight champion, Cormier, recently spoke to the media about today’s events stating the following (via Brett Okamoto):

“I mean I didn’t want you guys to see my junk.” Cormier told reporters.
One of the reporters questioned Cormier’s statement by suggesting that he used the towel to his advantage while on the scales.
“To not see my junk? That is your belief (that I was using the towel) not mine.”
Cormier continued:
“What does doing that do? I don’t understand. It’s not something I have done before so I don’t know… No. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t show my junk.”
With all of that said, the UFC 210 light heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson will proceed as scheduled for tomorrow night’s event in Buffalo, New York.
Cormier will be riding a 3-fight win streak into the bout, which includes a win over “Rumble” for the vacant light heavyweight championship at UFC 187. Most recently, Cormier defeated MMA icon Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva at UFC 200 in July, this after Jon Jones was pulled from the bout just 48 hours before the event due to a failed drug test which was later deemed to be the result of a tainted supplement.
Similarly, Johnson will be riding a 3-fight win streak into the bout, going 3-0 since dropping the loss to Cormier at UFC 187. Most recently, Johnson picked up a brutal 13-second KO win over Glover Teixeira at UFC 202. While he was slated to fight Cormier at UFC 206 in December, the bout was postponed after Cormier withdrew from the fight with a torn adductor in his groin.
