VIDEO | Daniel Cormier on Jon Jones situation: What am I supposed to do, stay mad my entire life?

Daniel Cormier is still continuing to take the high road with his biggest rival Jon Jones going through the due process with his potential anti-doping violation stemming from their UFC 214 fight.

Cormier recently spoke with Fight Hype on where his mindset is at and why.

“I try and tell people, man, I’m not making some huge grand gesture,” Cormier said of him telling fans to take it easy on Jones with everything that is going on. “I think it’s such a small part. It’s human emotion man, just having a little bit of sympathy. Bruh, I know how it is whenever you’re down, people just kind of like pile on you. It’s not cool man.”

“This dude is going through it right now so I’m not having it,” Cormier continued. “Let’s not pile on that young man. I mean, I know it sucks because it’s coming from me and I’m the person that he’s going through this with. The truth is, a lot of his indiscretions have been horrible but honestly, a lot of his indiscretions have allowed me to make a lot of money and all kinds of other stuff too.”

Cormier was reminded that in the end with what he was going up against with Jones in the Octagon, his health was at risk.

“You’re right,” Cormier said. “I get it. I really do get it and understand why people are upset but I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. Like, what am I supposed to do, just stay mad my entire life? I mean, I’m still upset you know but again I just try to think about the different ways in which we can affect people, man.”
