VIDEO | On This Day: Anderson Silva makes UFC debut at the age of 31
Anderson “The Spider” Silva made his UFC debut on this day 10 years ago.
Silva stepped into the Octagon with Chris Leben and made a statement finishing the always tough Leben in the very first round.
Silva would go on to win the UFC middleweight title in his very next fight, crushing the champion at the time, Rich Franklin, also in the first round.
Silva would go on to win 16 fights in a row and defend his title 10 times, setting the record for the most title defenses in UFC history.
Silva is looking to get back to his winning ways now that he has not picked up a win since 2012 with a pair of losses to Chris Weidman, a controversial loss to Michael Bisping and a no contest ruled in his fight with Nick Diaz after testing positive for a banned substance.
