VIDEO | Dominick Cruz vs. Cody Garbrandt ‘EA Sports UFC’ simulation
Tonight in the co-main event of UFC 207, UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and undefeated Team Alpha Male prospect Cody Garbrandt will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated grudge match for Cruz’ bantamweight title.
Leading up to the fight, the pair have kept things extremely intense. From the moment Garbrandt defeated Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202 in August, where he and Cruz talked trash from across the arena, the pair have been involved in numerous heated exchanges. At the same event, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was forced to separate the two men backstage as things quickly began to escalate.
This week, the pair were once again forced to be separated backstage as Cruz’ teammate Jeremy Stephens got involved this time and began to get into it with Garbrandt, at which point security separated the two men.
With just hours to go until the pair step into the Octagon, EA Sports UFC has released their simulation of how the fight will play out. Check it out above!
This matchup of course is a matchup of power vs. movement, where Garbrandt will look to either land a big punch that knocks Cruz out, or back the champ against the cage and unleash a devastating flurry. For Cruz of course, he will be looking to utilize his unparalleled fight IQ to systematically pick Garbrandt apart using his head movement and footwork, while likely looking for unexpected takedowns coming off slips, level changes, and cut angles.
Interestingly enough, while many are predicting that Cruz will either pick Garbrandt apart en route to a unanimous decision, or Garbrandt will finish Cruz early on in the fight, the EA Sports UFC simulation has Cruz winning the fight via first round submission.
