Video | Eddie Alvarez wants title fight with RDA, but would settle with Nate Diaz

By Chris Taylor - March 16, 2016

Top UFC lightweight contender Eddie Alvarez has been busy campaigning for a title shot with current division champion Rafael dos Anjos.

The former Bellator title holder is coming off a split-decision win over former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, which occurred at January’s UFC Fight Night 81 event.

Prior to his victory over “Showtime”, Alvarez was coming off another close split-decision victory over former Strikeforce title holder Gilbert Melendez.

Eddie recently spoke with “Fight Hype” where he stated that he expects to fight “RDA” at UFC 200, but he would also be game to throw down with UFC 196 main event winner Nate Diaz. His words (as transcribed by MMAMania):

“I am pushing as hard as I can for this title shot. Recently we beat the No. 3 guy in the world, then we beat the No. 1 guy in the world in Boston in Anthony Pettis. Now we’re going for the champ. Hopefully by UFC 200 it all lines up, the champ agrees, and we’re able to get a title shot. [A Diaz fight] is a good idea too, if Dos Anjos doesn’t give me a shot at the world title, then the Diaz fight would be something I’d be willing to entertain.”

Who would you rather see Alvarez fight next, Rafael dos Anjos or Nate Diaz? Sound off PENN Nation!
