VIDEO | Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin talks Conor McGregor’s chances in the boxing ring
One of the biggest names in boxing today is Gennady Golovkin, who is known for his knockout power and exciting fights.
With all the talk and buzz surrounding a Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather bout, the active boxing superstar who holds WBC, WBA, IBO & IBF titles spoke with TMZ recently on if he would take a fight against the UFC lightweight champion and what his thoughts are on McGregor in the boxing ring.
“People are talking about Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, the big UFC fighter,” said TMZ. “Conor, now remember, was a boxer growing up. If that fight falls through, would you ever consider in a million years stepping in for Floyd Mayweather and fighting Conor McGregor?”
“A little bit difficult for Conor,” “GGG” said as he didn’t give an answer if he would take a fight with the MMA superstar. “I respect him and he’s a great athlete and a great UFC fighter. A little bit different, boxing and UFC.”
TMZ then questioned, “So, UFC fighter Conor McGregor would have no chance in a boxing match against you?”
“No, no, no,” said the boxing knockout specialist. “Everybody has chance. I think Conor, he has a lot of chance.”
The humble boxer from Kazakhstan was then told by one of the TMZ staff that he knows Conor McGregor can’t beat him and he is yet to see a boxer that has the ability to beat him.
Golovkin said with a smile and laugh, “Are you kidding me? Are you serious? No!”
Not leaving the interview with a bit of confidence in his skills, Golovkin was asked if he wondered what it would be like when he actually gets into a fight that he isn’t sure he will win.
“Maybe in the future,” said “GGG.” “Maybe for me like, 60, 50-years-old. Yeah.”
