Undefeated UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to defend her belt for the fourth consecutive time since capturing the title from Carla Esparza at UFC 185 last year. Jedrzejczyk will meet fellow undefeated Polish strawweight Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 205 in New York on November 12.
The two were in New York for the UFC 205 press conference and answered questions from the media and also met face-to-face for the staredown.
As you can see from the video above, the two Polish scrappers aren’t letting their origin make this a friendly fight.
“I wanted to fight on this card so badly,” Jedrzejczyk said at the press conference. “I was like, asking Dana so many times but I’m finally here and happy to face Karolina in New York, like you said. Big Polish community in New York but I want to give this fight for all of you. This fight was supposed to happen in Poland but this fight is going to happen in New York on 205.
“So the thing is, I asked for Karolina. She beat Rose in her last fight so she’s here and everybody, Polish ladies rule the world! That’s all!”
Jedrzejczyk is coming off a five-round unanimous decision over Claudia Gadelha, which took place on The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale in July after their stint as coaches on the show.
Kowalkiewicz is coming off a split-decision win over Rose Namajunas at UFC 201, also in July and will get her chance to take out one of the most dominant champions currently in the UFC and claim her place in UFC history books.
One woman will walk out with the UFC strawweight belt and continue their undefeated professional MMA record while one will fall to defeat. Which one will it be? Sound off in the comment section on who you are picking to win!
