In the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Hamburg’ ‘The Warmaster’ Josh Barnett showcased his catch wrestling as he secured a beautiful takedown from the clinch, and followed up by choking Arlovski out cold. The win marks the first time Arlovski has been submitted in the course of his 17 year career.
The win was a major one for Barnett, who was ranked #9 on the UFC’s official heavyweight rankings prior to the fight, and is now back in the win column after his submission loss to Ben Rothwell earlier this year.
Barnett, who is the Metamoris heavyweight champion, was poked in the eye earlier in the round, managed to survive, and bounce back to secure a highlight reel submission.
Punches are expected in combat sports like MMA, boxing, and even in hockey, but you don’t, as a general rule, expect to see anyone throwing hands in the refined sport of horse racing.
